Dursley Food Bank available for local families struggling in cold weather

FAMILIES struggling to cover bills are being reminded of the Dursley Food Bank.
Rev Simon Helme, who is helping to co-ordinate the food bank in the area said too many people were facing the choice between eating and heating their homes as temperatures plunge to minus eight.
He said: "With it being really cold we are meeting people who are in this dilemma of whether they should eat or heat.
"If people are in that dilemma and have financial problems the food bank is there where they can get free food for three days."
People wanting to access the food bank need to collect a food voucher from a care professional, GP, member of the clergy, the Citizens’ Advice Bureau or local schools.
The Stroud District Food Bank, which the Dursley Food Bank is part of, has fed more than 100 people since it opened at the end of December.
For those wanting to make a donation to the food bank can do so at any local church where there are collection boxes.
