10:30am Friday 10th February 2012

FORMER top showjumper Rachael Patterson will switch from one sort of horsepower to another when the makes her rallying debut on the Team GMF Wyedean Forest Rally this Saturday.
The 23-year-old from Yate has been on the local showjumping and eventing scene since she was 14-years-old but her horse Spud has now retired.
She will use a 1400 Peugeot 106, and be co-driven by the highly rated 17-year-old Josh Davison from Alnwick in Northumberland.
The duo plan to do all of the BTRDA series and had an official launch of the rally team at the premises of one of her sponsors, The Bell Inn, at Yatton Keynell last Sunday.
Further backing comes from Bosworth Design Automatic Horse Feeder, Clifton Photographic Company and Harkness Tyre and Exhausts.
And it’s a real family team set-up as Patterson’s step-dad Michael is chief engineer and mum Liz is team manager.
But the former Motorpoint Yamaha grid girl also runs her own promotional company and has a very unique sponsorship package on offer, called the Fabulous Fifty Campaign, where anybody can have their name on the car for £50.
Patterson said: “I am really looking forward to the Wyedean.
“I must say a big thankyou to all my sponsors, and mum and Michael for all their hardwork and support.”
The BTRDA opening round offers 45 miles of classic gravel roads in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and has attracted a high quality entry, with the first car leaving Chepstow Racecourse at 8am.
